Job Description:

THIS POSITION IS AN ON-CALL POSITION - CANIDATES MUST LIVE WITHIN AN 8 MILE RADIUS OF THE HWY 49/HWY 412 INTERSECTION

SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION: 

This position has been deemed a Safety Sensitive position and any person performing duties in this position while under the influence of marijuana or any other substance (legal or illegal) that could impair the employee may constitute a threat to health and safety.  PMU maintains a zero-tolerance for the use of any substance that may impair a Safety Sensitive individual.  Consequences of a violation can be found in the PMU Drug and Alcohol Policy Manual.

SUMMARY:

Installs underground lines and services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinates materials for underground electric and fiber lines

Operates digger and associated equipment needed to install underground electric and  fiber lines

Installs conduit and wire to meter bases and transformers

Performs a variety of manual labor functions:  lifts transformers, unloads freight and  pulls wire through, as well as operating backhoe and trencher

Follows National Electric Safety Code

Assists other crews such as service and metering when needed

Assists with locates

Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six to twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret construction plans.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out multiple step instructions.  Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Commercial Driver's License

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Must be able to read and understand maps. General knowledge on emailing, using calendars, reports, Microsoft Word and Excel, and must have the ability to input data and retrieve information using a terminal, PC, iPad or other keyboard devices.
